Jashn-e-Riwaaz is lovely. What is the moodboard?

Thank you. As we came out of this tumultuous year, we wanted to symbolize the spiritual journey of light over darkness, positive vibes, intimate reunions, and appreciation for time spent with close family and friends. The joy of celebrating life! The mood is to come home and appreciate traditions, rituals, friendships and generations of memories.

It’s a great party lookbook because of the colors and the art. Tell us what kind of heritage contributed to its making?

Our lookbooks and style guides are just a reflection of what our design teams create with our artisans and craftspeople. The process is wonderful to see ideas come to life, how designs on paper turn into threads and textures, which in turn become heirloom pieces with timeless traditions to pass on to the next generation. The beauty of our festive collections, whether clothing or home, lies in their timeless elegance and craftsmanship.

Can you tell us about men’s fashion in particular?

Fabindia is known for its traditional men’s fashion. Our recent introductions of long and short slim-fit versus comfort kurtas offer a variety of shapes and fabrics only found at Fabindia. My favorite was the Pathani kurta with pockets which you can wear even with your jeans and make it super fun! Even in the waistcoat category, we have a wide selection of fits and fabrics that make an elegant festive statement. Without forgetting our tailor-made clothing for men: choose your fabric, choose your cut, choose your collar and your sleeve and personalize them!

For men who might still want to stick with the western this season, you must take a look at our new western clothing for men with bush shirts, button down shirts, comfort and fitted cuts in prints and united … (they are) to die for. Pair them with our chinos and you’re good to go. Plus this season we have a special collaboration with Desi Hangover for Fabindia men’s woven jootis… now that just takes you one step in the right direction for the holidays!

As such a vintage brand, how do you make it modern every time?

Ah! You call us vintage … I’m saying what’s old is new again. What goes around comes around. But kidding aside, Fabindia’s DNA is timeless. For 61 years, the brand has managed to stay relevant and demonstrate resilience. Obviously, the teams are doing something right and magical to speak to our community and our consumers year after year who have supported us and keep coming back to us. We are very fortunate to have such a loyal community and we hope to continue with our secret sauce to stay contemporary and relevant year after year.
