Met Gala 2022 Live: Fashion’s Biggest Event To Kick Off With The ‘Gilded Glamour’ Theme For 2022

We’re hours away from the Met Gala 2022, which will be the first time fashion’s most anticipated event has taken place on the first Monday in May in two years.

Last year the Met Gala took place on September 13 and the year before it was canceled due to the pandemic. Usually around 600 celebrities are invited to mark the glitzy event on their social calendars, but this year and last the numbers are closer to 400.

The theme for the 2022 Met Gala is In America: An Anthology of Fashion, or “Gilded Glamour,” and is the second part of the Costume Institute exhibit, which opened Sept. 18.

The first part of the exhibit mirrored last year’s Met Gala theme, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, which celebrated all things American fashion.

As is tradition, the guest list for this year’s event has been carefully chaired by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, who has run the gala since 1995. It was announced earlier this year that 2022 hosts would include Regina King , Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who will be the official co-chair of the evening.

All of our favorite outfits from the Blake Lively Met Gala

Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, are one of four hosts and co-chairs of tonight’s event.

The couple are Met Gala regulars, but it’s Lively’s outfits that usually steal the show.

We’ve rounded up our favorite outfits worn by Lively at the event ahead of her hosting duties tonight:

Tom Ford says the Met Gala has become a “costume party”

Not everyone is as excited as we are for the Met Gala, it seems.

Designer Tom Ford claimed that the exclusive fashion event had turned into a “costume party”, except for one occasion when “there were only very stylish people wearing very nice clothes”.

All the #MetPrep clues dropped by stylists and makeup artists on Instagram

Celebrity stylists and makeup artists have hinted at what the stars they dress might wear on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet tonight.

Here are some of the most intriguing #MetPrep clues to date:

Erin Walsh, who does hair for Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington and Anne Hathaway, posted a photo of a pair of dusty pink Gucci platform heels to her Instagram.

The shoes have a covered toe with delicate cutouts and a pair of red lips on each sole.

She wrote in the caption: “Step into my higher self with a little help from my friends.”

Benjamin Puckey, whose recent celebrity clients include Uma Thurman and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is the global color director for Japanese beauty brand Clé de Peau Beauté.

He posted a range of Clé de Peau Beauté lipsticks in different shades of red and plum, with the caption: “#MetPrep”.

New brand ambassadors include actors Ella Balinska, Dakota Fanning and Diana Silvers.

New York-based jeweler Briony Raymond also added to the hashtag, posting a short video of a large pink silver and gold diamond brooch shimmering in the sun.

The jeweler said the vintage brooch will make its “big Met Gala debut” today. Although it is not known which star will wear the beautiful brooch, The iron Throne Actress Sophie Turner is one of the company’s A-listers on Instagram.

The most controversial themes of the Met Gala

Big drama is always the order of the day when it comes to the Met Gala – and some years have seen controversial themes spark big conversations online and offline.

The weird rules Met Gala guests have to follow

Whenever the Met Gala takes place, there are certain guidelines guests will need to follow if they want to stay on Wintour’s good books.

These are the royals who attended the Met Gala

The Met Gala guest list is usually associated with Hollywood stars, but every now and then a member of the royal family makes an appearance.

From the British Royal Family, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, were present at the event.

Twitter users prepare to deliver their Met Gala judgments

With just hours to go before the Met Gala, almost all of Twitter is gearing up to channel its Miranda Priestly of The devil wears Prada (which was inspired by Anna Wintour herself).

Some people have acknowledged being judgmental while dressed in their most comfortable home clothes – we love a self-aware hun.

Others have noted that they’ve transformed when it comes to the Met Gala.

Have you ever wondered what it was like to go to the Met Gala? We do too, but we’ll never know…

All the Kardashians would have been invited to the Met Gala 2022

Met Gala watchers could see all of the Kardashia-Jenner sisters and mother Kris Jenner at the big fashion event tonight.

According to Page 6, vogue Editor-in-chief Anna Wintour invited all but one of the Kardashians to the 2022 Met Gala for the first time.

This includes Kim Kardashian and her boyfriend Pete Davidson, Kourtney Kardashian and her fiancé Travis Barker, Khloe Kardashian, Kris and Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

However, Rob Kardashian is unlikely to attend, as is Kylie’s partner Travis Scott, with whom she shares two children. The publication also reports that a source said Kim’s ex-husband Kanye West is “not expected to be in attendance” this year.

Kim attended the gala last year wearing an all-black Balenciaga outfit, with a mask covering her face and head.

Kendall was also at the event last year and donned a bejeweled sheer dress by Givenchy designer Matthew Williams. The dress was inspired by the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in 1964, Jenner said, adding, “I love Audrey, so we really wanted to take a special moment for her and make it ours.”
